因為莊友結婚，所以有機會到 Scotland 一轉，抱住觀禮和旅遊的心態 (期待)
Our "jongmate" is having her wedding at Scotland and has invited us. I was so eager for the trip for both her wedding and our visits to Scotland (excited)
第一日 | Day 1
因為出發日 9月30日是罷工日，所以班次很少 (有車已經很好)，無可奈何地我們選擇了早上 7:30 的火車。
The date we departed was in a strike day. There are not much trains running (it's better than nothing). We have chosen to take the 7:30am train, early in the morning!
順帶一提因為我是火車公司員工，是有二五折乘其他公司火車的福利，所以這次倫敦來回愛丁堡兩人來回合共只是 £80。
As I got Rail Staff Travel with 75% discounts on trains other than the company I am working, we only need to pay £80 for two return trip tickets between London and Edinburgh.

London North Eastern Railway 倫敦東北鐵路，簡稱 LNER，不過我一直都是讀成 LINER (笑) 所以這公司令人想起凱之巨人 (不!!)

雖然車廂有點像在日本，行車時很靜，但乘客還是不像日本有個寧靜體驗… 旁邊的乘客沒有停地說了數小時，後面的小朋友也不停地大吵大鬧了數小時。嗯。
The train compartment is similar to Japan, and very quiet when the train is running. However, the passengers are not the case. The passengers next to us kept talking for hours, and the children behind us screamed for hours. Well.
因為是罷工關係，其實這趟火車是不能直接到達愛丁堡 (汗)，我們要在紐卡素轉巴士，到達 Berwick，再在 Berwick 轉巴士到愛丁堡。本來四小時多的火車車程就變了七小時。但若非這樣我應該沒有機會去 Berwick-upon-Tweet 這個車站。
As it was a strike day, the train wasn't going to Edinburgh directly. We stopped at Newcastle and got on replacement bus to Berwick, then another replacement bus to Edinburgh. The trip was lengthened from 4 hours something to 7 hours! However, if it was not the case I would never have chance to go to Berwick-upon-Tweet Station.
終於到達了愛丁堡！ (呼氣)

我們選了一間距離火車站和市中心有點遠的酒店，一來是市中心的酒店不合理的貴，二來是既然來到位於海邊的愛丁堡，那麼一定要住在海邊吧！所以還得轉電車到 Newhaven，這一段電車路段是今年年中才通車的。
We have chosen a hotel a bit far from railway station and town centre as the price there was overpriced, and we would like to live near the sea as Edinburgh is a coastal city. Therefore we have to take the tram to Newhaven, and this section of tram was just opened earlier this year.

來到 Scotland 一定要做的是甚麼？就是挑戰吃 Haggis (羊肚雜碎)，在附近的適場 Ocean Terminal 叫了一個 Haggis Roll。不過裡面放的 Haggis 肉不算太多，所以這次也不太算品嘗到這道邪惡料理。
What's the thing you must do in Scotland? That's having Haggis (savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver, and lungs))! I have ordered a Haggis Roll in the Shopping Centre nearby - Ocean Terminal. The amount of Haggis was not that much in this roll so I didn't quite have any comments on Haggis at this point.
Ocean Terminal 這個商場的賣點是 The Royal Yacht Britannia，廣告寫住是 Top UK Attractions on TripAdvisor…(懷疑眼神) 不過我們到達的時間已經關門了。
The Ocean Terminal is for getting to the Royal Yacht Britannia. The ads says "Top UK Attractions on TripAdvisor"... (in doubt...) Anyway, it was closed when we arrived.

在計劃行程時，已經想好了吃酒店附近的餐廳 The Fishmarket，因為標榜是用附近的漁鑊，可是失策的是沒有預先 book 位，結果打電話去的時候已經 full 了。而且附近幾間的餐廳都 full 了 (汗) 結果只好外賣 Fishmarket 回酒店吃。誤打誤撞發現 Ubereats 有 £10 優惠，三盒炸物+一個湯只是 £25 (讚
We planned to have our dinner at The Fishmarket near our hotel as it said the fishes are from Edinburgh. However I didn't book any tables in advance and it was full. Not only this restaurant but all restaurants nearby were full!! We ordered takeaway from The Fishmarket but realised there was £10 discount at Ubereats! It only costed me £25 for three deep fried foods and one soup.

第二日 | Day 2
在倫敦沒有怎麼機會看到海，所以這次來愛丁堡也刻意選了海邊的酒店，早上起來吃過酒店的早餐後，到外面看一看，天氣很好很寫意。
We picked a hotel near the sea since we don't have much chance to see the sea in London. After the breakfast in hotel, it was a day with nice weather.

在愛丁堡等候朋友的時候，我們到了 National Galleries of Scotland: Portrait 逛一逛，一個充滿人像畫的地方。畫倒是不太懂如何欣賞，但這棟建築倒是很華麗。
While waiting for our friends, we went to National Galleries of Scotland : Portrait. I don't have much feelings about the portraits but the building was so impressive.
另外這條向下斜的馬路，可以望到海邊，有點像香港的西邊街，如果可以航拍應該會很壯觀。
An inclined road where we can see the sea far away. A bit like Western Street in Hong Kong. If I had a drone I could proabably take some good photo.
大約一小時的車程便到了位於 Falkirk 婚宴的場地 - The Three Kings! 到達時已經看到穿蘇格蘭裙的人吹著風笛來迎賓，厚厚的蘇格蘭感覺！！ (雙眼發光)
It took us around an hour to arrive the wedding venue - The Three Kings at Falkirk! When we arrived, there was a man in Kilt playing bagpipes. It's so Scotland!! (excited)
會場看出去是一望無際的農地，果然說蘇格蘭就好比日本的北海道 (誤)
Unlimited farms outside the venue. That's why people say Scotland is just like Hokkaido in Japan (fake)
完成結婚儀式之後就是晚宴，這個場地的佈置有點港式呢，特別是剛剛過了中秋節，這些圓圓的燈有點像燈籠。
Banquet after the wedding ceremony. The venue was a bit Hongkong-style. The lights made me think of lanterns in the mid-Autumn Festivals.
其中一款可選甜品是 cranachan，滿滿日本甜品名的既視感但其實是蘇格蘭傳統甜品，口感介乎於 Cream 和 Moose 中間，很特別。
One dessert we could choose was caranachan. The name sounds like Japanese but it's Scotland traditional dessert. The taste was like something between cream and moose. A bit special experience.
由於場地與世隔絕，所以也拜託了朋友車我們到附近的火車站 Falkirk High，這也是一個若非去觀禮根本不會來的地方。
Our friends kindly drove us to the nearest railway station - Falkirk High, something we will never go if it's not going to the wedding venue.
然後乘搭 Scotrail 回到了愛丁堡車站。
We were back to Edinburgh Station by taking Scotrail.
一路搜尋有甚麼是愛丁堡必吃的東西，然後這間 Cafe Piccante 就走了出來。這間到底是吃甚麼而導致它這麼有名氣呢？
I was searching for things I must eat in Edinburgh - and the Cafe Piccante appeared. What does this shop sells to make it famous?

雖然昨晚吃了那麼多炸物，但還是想試這邪惡的東西，但其實吃下去超黏有種不知在吃甚麼的感覺。
Despite I have been trying for so many deep fried foods the previous night, I still wanted to try this devil food. However, I really didn't know what I am eating as it was just so sticky...

第三日 | Day 3
早上去了蘇格蘭議會廳參觀，這裡可以免費入場，如果時間許可的話還有導賞團。
In the morning we went to Scottish Parliamnet Building. It's free of charge. If time allows there are guided tours.
附近的 Salisbury Crags，因為倫敦實在是沒有山的關係，所以看到這樣翠綠的山，有點想行山…
Salisbury Crags nearby. Since there are no hiking routes in London, I was so eager for hiking when I saw such a green hill.
然後午餐時間去了香港人開的餐廳旮旯 (不是九日九)

這裡吃的是 fusion 西餐，有點特色的意粉，味道真的很不錯 (讚)！！比較可惜是太多中國人光顧這店，不知道是否十一黃金周的關係。坐在我們旁邊毫無文化的中國人，在用餐的一小時幾乎都是以超嘈吵的聲量談話，而且沒有停過不停的說…
This restaurant serves fusion western dishes, a bit of special pastas. It tasted good (like)!! It was sad that there were too many unbehaved Chinese customers in the restaurant, who kept talking with maximum volume non-stop throughout an hour... sigh...

話說愛丁堡是一個立體交錯的城市，好像有好多層的街道，當你以為自己在平地但卻原來是一條橋。這種特色在這個 National Galleries 也感受到，因為明明我們在電車站那邊的入口進去，向下幾層後，又是另一個地面水平…
Edinburgh is a 3D city with multi layers of roads and streets. When you think you are on the ground level but you are actually on a bridge. This also happened at the National Galleries, when we entered from the level of tram stop and went down, but it was another ground level.
接下來是哈利波特的導賞團，這個團會去逛作者 J K Rowling 取材的地方，撰寫哈利波特的咖啡廳，為角色取名的墓地等…
Then it was the Harry Potter Trail. The guided tour brought us to where the writer J K Rowling wrote the book, the cementry where she named the characters, buildings where she made reference to...
據說是斜角巷取材的地方 Victoria Street，這裡有一間官方授權賣哈利波特精品的店
Victoria Street, said to be the reference of Diagon Alley. A Harry Potter souvenirs shop was there.
然後在店裡… 但這店超狹窄，完全沒有任何氣氛，只是有種擠迫感。
Inside the shop... but the shop is just so small you can only feel how narrow it is instead of the Harry Potter atmosphere.
完結時導遊做了少許總結 —— J K Rowling 在當年是個極度窮困的單親媽媽，本身在英國其他地方的她移居到愛丁堡時也十分潦倒，然而就是這裡她選擇了由 nothing 變成 something，創造了今天哈利波特的世界。導遊在開團前分享過自己的經歷，由加拿大移民到歐洲卻不怎麼順利，最後到了愛丁堡舉辦這些導賞團，總算叫過得好起來，所以他很鼓勵大家由 nothing 變成 something。
The tour guide wrapped up at the end - J K Rowling was a poor single mother moving from elsewhere in UK to Edinburgh. She was in Edinburgh and turned nothing to something, which is now the Harry Potter World. The tour guide shared at the beginning he was a migrant from Canada. He started at Europe but was not smooth and finally moved to Edinburgh for organising local tours and his life is now better. So it's the power of turning nothing to something.
老婆說我聽到這裡眼有淚光，或許這天是我們離開香港的一周年，腦裡想起了很多事情。到底自己在英國，會否可以做一些事情，令一些 nothing 變成 something 呢？
My wife said I got tear after hearing what the tour guide said. Maybe that's because the day was exactly one year when we left Hong Kong. A lot memories coming to my mind. Is there anything I can do here to turn nothing to something?
然後這是聲稱自己是哈利波特誕生地的餐廳，可是已經因為火災而沒有營業了，另一間咖啡店也已經易手變成寫滿殘體字的中餐。對 J K Rowling 來說可能是一些回憶的地方，也隨著時間而逝去了。
This is a restaurant claiming itself as "birthplace" of Harry Potter, but no longer opens due to fire outbreak. Another cafewhere J K Rowling wrote her book was being turned to Chinese Restaurant with ugly Simplified Chinese text. Maybe these are all places with memories to J K Rowling, but there are no longer there anymore.
晚上決定不吃炸物，也放棄了要吃 scotland 特色食物的想法，所以去了一間家庭經營的意大利餐廳…
We decided not to have any deep fried food nor scotland dishes, so just went into a family-run Italian restaurant...
可是…可是…
But... but...
餐牌上的薄餅有 Haggis !! (驚) 這根本是犯罪行為!!!! (怒)

不想再吃 Haggis 了，還好這餐廳很多其他食物。
We no longer wanted to have anymore haggis. Luckily this restaurant served a lot of good food.
第四日 | Day 4
要離開愛丁堡了，總覺得這個城市熱鬧之餘卻很整潔，令人有點不捨。
The day to leave Edinburgh. This was a city full of people but at the same time very clean. Missed it when I was leaving.

因為想在紐卡素吃午飯和逛一逛，這個 Grainger Market 也不錯，有點像香港舊時的公屋商場。
As we wanted to have lunch at Newcastle so we stopped there. This is Grainger Market, it looked like old public housing mall in Hong Kong.

There was a game centre in a shopping centre. I have not been seeing a game centre for long time (including in Hong Kong)
短短的數小時就要和這個地方說再見了，下次再來!

回程的火車在窗外看到雲隙光，一年前乘坐飛機來了倫敦，一年後這天乘坐火車回到倫敦。
